This spring has been one full of experimenting! Exciting ideas from our customers have given us a chance to use some new materials on KODA facades. You may recall that the standard equipment of a KODA includes a high-quality painted timber facade, usually Nordic pine. However, recently we installed Viroc® Boards for projects in Germany and Estonia and Albond® aluminium facade for a hotel project in Austria.
What is Viroc and why might it be a good option for your KODA? Viroc is an innovative composite panel consisting of a mixture of wood particles and cement called the Cement Bonded Particle Board (CBPB). It combines the flexibility of wood with the strength and durability of cement, allowing a wide range of applications both indoors and outdoors. The production of Viroc panel complies with the specifications of EN 634 and EN 13986 standards and carries the CE marking certificate, the latter is also the marking on all other materials used in KODA houses.
The Viroc panel has a heterogeneous appearance with different shades randomly dispersed, resulting from the natural colours of the raw materials used, and the chemical reactions. The slight shade shifts in panels give Viroc a vibrant, natural outlook.
Viroc panels have a beautiful colour palette, with mild shades of white, grey, black and ochre as well as brighter yellow and red: here’s more photos of the much-loved red KODA with Viroc panels.
The big advantage of a Viroc facade is that it is relatively maintenance free, although producer’s instructions must of course be observed at all times. More about Viroc.
The other new facade cover we recently installed is the picturesque Albond or Alubond aluminium composite panel (ACP). If you are looking for a truly sleek, premium design look for your KODAs that will stand out in both urban and nature settings, this might be just the thing for you. Something to take into account: Albond can only be used on the KODA Loft Extended model, due to material specifications.
