Design-led housing solutions company is raising Series A capital to invest in technology, digitization, team and drive additional growth.
TALLINN, ESTONIA, Jan. 23, 2023 – Kodasema, an architecture, design and engineering company known as the manufacturer of award-winning KODA by Kodasema® movable modular housing solutions, announced that to finance its ambitious growth plans, it is raising new capital to enable scale up into new markets and accelerate company’s growth globally.
“After creating and developing a most advanced modular housing platform on the market, our shareholders are now looking to scale up the business and Series A will allow a pivotal institutional investor to lead in the global housing industry putting sustainability, technology and digitization at the forefront,” said Birgit Linnamäe, CEO of Kodasema. “The funding is used to meet current demand and take advantage of the scaling opportunity based on our leads and deeply engineered climate-mindful solutions. Part will be invested in the extension and standardization of production with a new robotic technology, automation and digitization of processes integrating the sector’s innovator KODEA factory, further patents globally, as well as more in-house sales, support, R&D and marketing staff.”
“The original idea at the early stages of Kodasema was to stop wasting energy and start reducing the energy consumption in the construction industry,” said Hannes Tamjärv, founder of Kodasema. “The only way to meet the exponential growth of global housing needs resulting from urbanization, is to make modular houses more cleverly and sustainably.”
Kodasema operates using direct sales and licensing business models. Digitization and licensing make both models highly scalable. Today the company has distributors or license partners in more than ten countries. The main export markets are Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, the Nordic countries, Ireland and the US. In addition to the hospitality industry, Kodasemas’s main customers are real estate developers, local governments, and private individuals who want high-quality, well-designed, energy-efficient and environmentally friendly living spaces and accommodation solutions. Kodasema’s furthest market is currently Australia, where the company operates via a local licensing partner.
KODA houses are fully factory-built and are transported to the destination in one piece, if desired then also furnished. This makes the production of houses and installation of whole communities or two storey properties at the customer’s location significantly more flexible, sustainable, cost efficient and faster than traditional construction. Kodasema’s product portfolio includes a total of 9 different house designs, all of which can be stacked on top of each other, combined and installed offshore on pontoons in the water to float. During the next 2 years, Kodasema expects a rapid increase in sales volume and orders, as well as an additional increase of licensing into new countries and markets.
